The polls are closed and the votes are being counted. Jamaica will have a change of government tonight by the look of the results. These results are coming in and the JLP seems nearer than ever back in Gordon house as according to Oliver Watt of the EOJ 28 seats have been declared a win for the JLP and 18 seats for the PNP. The JLP needs 3 more seats to win the election. The PNP headquarters at Half Way Tree is empty. The percentage shows JLP (50%) and PNP (50%) with over 746,100 boxes counted. Over 50 boxes were counted in most constituencies. The closely competitive constituencies or so called “hot seat” are East Rural St. Andrew, Clarendon South East, St. Elizabeth North Eastern,St. Thomas Eastern,St. Mary Western and Trelawny Southern.
The JLP Ten Point Plan for the Information and Communication Technology sector seems to be the missile that president and Andrew Holness had up his sleeve. New incubent Juliet Holness has a 53% win over Imani Duncan got only 47%and
JLP’s Juliet Cuthbert defeated Paul Buchanan and are ringing the bell of victory having won both their constituency.
The PNP say it is confident in retaining the 42 seat they won in 2011. While Andrew Holness has retained his seat against Patrick Roberts.
